About Kings and Kingdoms
Show Notes:
Host: Jim Hughes, Christian Life Coach
A king was the richest, most powerful person in the land. The king would give land, riches, and protection to a group of people known as nobles in return for their allegiance. That provision by the king and the nobles' allegiance in return was the basis for the kingdom. It formed the convenant.
God is the king. From his power and wealth, God gives gifts to people.
- He gives us peace with him -- forgiveness of our rebellion against him. He did this by having his son Jesus pay for our transgressions.
- He gives us a position in his kingdom. In fact, he adopts us as sons and daughters.
- He provides for our needs.
Read or reread Matthew from the perspective of understanding better the kingdom of God.

You might also want to add this to your blog - Christ is our King. He is a spiritual king and he rules over a spiritual kingdom (the church). Some feel that the kingdom is coming in the future but Jesus gave the keys to Peter and the apostles in Matthew 16:18-19. The kingdom/church began on Pentecost when Peter and the apostles preached the first gospel sermon. John said in Revelation 1:9 that he was in the kingdom.
